A foodie who hates to cook
That’s me. I love eating good food, but I would rather either eat out or if I have to cook something, I want it to be super simple and fast. That’s why I love recipe bases instead of actually recipes. What is a recipe base? It’s the sauce or the seasonings behind a dish. The actual ingredients (meat, veggies) don’t matter.
For Asian food, I copied this great recipe base from one of my friends who is an awesome home cook. She actually loves to cook and is quite skilled at it.
Here’s the recipe base to use for Asian food:
- 4 parts soy sauce
- 2 parts sesame oil
- 1 part lemon juice
An example of this base would be- 4 tablespoons of soy sauce + 2 tablespoons of sesame oil + 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
That’s it! I usually cook onion and garlic using the 2 parts sesame oil. Then I add the protein, the veggies, and the soy sauce and lemon.
Some protein options you can use:
- seitan (gluten)
- cubed chicken
- beef pieces
Some veggies you can stir fry into the mix:
- string beans
- baby spinach
- baby kale
I absolutely love and swear by this recipe base. Hope you love it as much as I do!
My favorite soy sauce brand as far as taste is concerned.
