try this sporty chic look- baseball cap + fitted denim jacket + stripes on top and bottom + open toe ankle booties
*Will this denim jacket style work on your body type? All my outfits emphasize flattering an apple shape -wider shoulders/narrow hips. In this picture I am 5’1′ 140lbs. I am petite and also have a high waist and short torso.
Where you can get items similar to what I’m wearing
I’m wearing a black Hoffman Structures cap from my hubby’s work. Here’s a similar style in black. I like the front straight and the top square shaped.
Striped stretchy long sleeved top from Macy’s. Similar here.
Horizontal stripes on the lower half of the body are so ideal for an apple shape to balance out wider shoulders and cinch the waist. Here’s a black and gray pencil skirt if you’re in the market for one.
I looked forever for these open toe booties. They are super comfortable because of the thick heel and insole cushioning. It’s especially comfortable for being three inches in height. It has a cool quilting detail on the back and two zippers on each side for easy removal. They only come in black now.
Choosing a flattering denim jacket style
Denim jackets can be tricky for an apple shape. I tried several before settling with this one. The trick to this one is that it is fitted and kind of flares at the bottom. You can see on my back picture that it has an hourglass shape. Most denim jackets are so boxy. Definitely a no no for an apple shape. This fit and flare feature fixes that. Very few denim jackets on the market do this. Here’s a dark wash motorcycle style denim jacket that does. Here’s another in a medium wash. Here’s one more closest to the wash I’m wearing.

I write about how finding the perfect pair of jeans is like finding Mr. Right. I used to write a dating column haha.
Here’s an outfit I love wearing with a denim mini skirt.
