I know we’re not having guests over right now with the worldwide pandemic, but it’ s a good time to get the guest room all spruced up! Ok, let’s talk guest room details.
I’ll be honest, the absolute BEST guest room addition is a framed piece of paper on the wall that includes your home wi-fi and password- so your guests never have to ask.
But beyond that, I’ve included a few simple things to help make guests feel relaxed and more at home in our home.
A padded headboard
If you’re in the market for a headboard for your guest room, I always prefer a padded one so guests can rest on it and read any time they are in bed. It beats leaning back on wood or wrought iron. We went with a tufted one from overstock similar to this. We also included two sets of pillows- one down and one polyester fill- so guests can choose their preference.

A water carafe
I can’t believe I scored this water carafe at a thrift store. It’s so sleek in its design in that the cup is actually the lid of the carafe. This one has a similar concept. Why water by the bedside? I don’t know about you, but it’s nice to not have to go to the kitchen for a glass of water before bed, first thing in the morning, or when you’re feeling parched in the middle of the night. I love that this carafe has a lid when not in use so dust doesn’t get in the water.

An Old School Alarm
Some people are opting to plug their phones in far away from their bedside table so they aren’t tempted to stay up and scroll the night away and so they can eliminate blue light near bedtime. An old school alarm is perfect for that guest who wants to wake up with a screen free alarm.

Towels in Multiple sizes
I stole this idea from a friend I stayed with! She had a little basket full of towels rolled up in the corner of her guest room. It’s great because guests always appreciate different sizes of towels and are too embarrassed to ask for more. (5 body, 5 face, 5 hand) We love these towels! They are soft and fluffy but they actually dry well. Sometimes the soft towels aren’t absorbent and the rough ones actually absorb better but these are a great combination of both soft and absorbent! They wash well and don’t shrink up on the edges after many uses. The towels are also huge and have a nice thickness. We also love baskets you can label.

Comfort meets productivity
Comfort = massage chair topper (this is the best!), battery operated candles
Productivity = desk, chair, lighting, inspirational quote

An antique garment rack with 20 hangers
Because it feels more like a vacation if you’re not living out of a suitcase. I also like this sleek one with a wooden base. Huggable hangers fit more.

It’s all in the small, thoughtful details when it comes to a guest room, isn’t it? Crossing my fingers we will be able to use it soon. Stay safe out there.
