How to change your negative body image
Do you struggle with body image? I know I do, especially before my period. haha. The extra fluid retention and inclination to dive into a vat of chocolates head first… well, that doesn’t help matters either. Did you know the only proven way to actually change your body image is to view body diversity?
What does it mean to view body diversity?
The simple answer is we need to see all kinds of bodies, all the time, hopefully in a positive light. Magazines are full of celebrities whose bodies have been made to look smaller, more like the mold of what we are accustomed to seeing in the media. By seeing more kinds of bodies in a positive light, we train our subconscious to see our own bodies in a positive light.
How the Girls tv show can help you view more body diversity
This isn’t necessarily a “feel good” show. Not everything comes out hunky dory. I recommend you watch it anyway, especially if you struggle with a negative body image. Watch all 6 seasons. Follow along and you’ll notice something. Every naked woman in this show has a different kind of body. Every single woman has physical flaws. Whether it’s saggy boobs, no boobs at all, large arms, a wide bottom. You name it. They all have flaws and guess what? They all get the attention of the opposite sex. Not that that’s all that matters, but it is one way of viewing body diversity in a positive light.
Your subconscious starts getting this message-
I don’t have to be a certain size or look a certain way to be desired. I don’t have to have a perfect body to be confident.
Now that’s a powerful message we want to send to our subconscious, don’t you think?
