Last year I watched the documentary, “Happy” and was really inspired to be intentional about my priorities. It talks about how focusing on intrinsic goals (helping people, nurturing close relationships with people, and focusing on personal growth) makes people happier than focusing on extrinsic goals (status-popularity, money, image-looking good, having the right appearance).
So this year, I’m becoming more proactive about my personal growth. I’ve always believed that experience is the best teacher, but in fact I was wrong! Only reflected upon, learned from experience is the best teacher. Without that introspection on life, people just continue to repeat their mistakes. Personal growth just doesn’t happen. You have to be intentional about it, which is why I’m excited about this book in my library list: The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth: Live Them and Reach Your Potential
I’m also focusing on deepening and building up my close relationships, with Nate, with friends, with family. And lastly, I’m focusing on ways to help people, which is where help-portrait comes in! Check out their intro video:
I love when I can find a volunteering activity that matches my passions ( recently photography) and skills (make-up artistry) with an opportunity to help others, and this year we did makeovers and photographs for the elderly community at Evergreen Court, so they could feel like celebrities for a day and have a nice photograph to send their grand kids. I had so much fun and met so many great, like minded, service oriented, creative people. What a great environment to be around!
Millie was such a ray of sunshine. She reminded me of the kind of attitude and faith I want to have when I get older. She inspired me with her beaming smile and beautiful outlook. Thank you Millie. Venus did her hair.
Thanks to everyone who provided treats. They were amazing.
Even the men got in on the photo shoot:)
