How To Do Makeup: Part 1 The Basic Products

Makeup can be so much fun, but I’m definitely more a fan of the “no makeup” makeup look. Natural. I want people to see the woman, not the makeup. So, this post is to show you how to do makeup basics. I will also show you some of the products I used.

Thanks to my friend Heather who was my makeover client! Had a super fun day!

Heather just woke up and we headed straight to my house for a fun makeover day:)

Here are some of the key products we used:

Tart blush

Omg. This is the ONLY blush I’ve ever found that actually lasts all day.

I used the color “true love,” a perfectly pink shade, no shimmer. Great for day wear

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

It’s only the best! You’ll forget all about wanting to set aside your life savings for those monthly eyelash extensions every other woman is donning.

Define-A-Lash Volume Mascara

And you can’t forget the mascara! This stuff is so amazing. Even to its dying day, as it’s drying out, it still doesn’t clump. still. Amazing to the very end. That’s the kind of product that I want to feature. I think this mascara is the hidden little gem of drugstore mascaras.

Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer

This little guy is the star of the show. I used it to highlight Heather’s cheeks and also added it to her lips for a subtle day shimmer.

Other tools in your toolbox? You definitely need concealer. I love Revlon Photoready Concealer

You also need translucent powder. I love Maybelline Shine Free – Loose Oil Control Loose Powder

Lastly, you need a great liquid liner. I’m still on a search for a good one. Some I’ve tried don’t go on dark enough, others go on dark enough but have a really difficult applicator. Readers, do you have any suggestions?

In my next post, I’m going to break down the application process and hopefully have a video for you guys!
