*Will this outfit work on your body type? All my outfits emphasize flattering an apple shape -wider shoulders/narrow hips. In this picture I am 5’1″ 143lbs. I am petite and also have a high waist and short torso.
How to wear a dress in winter
First, choose the right kind of dress. I love black floral dresses. They make the transition from the warm months to the cool months easy. In the summer and spring, it’s easy to wear them with a straw hat and wedges. In the fall and winter, since black is the backdrop of the floral, black leggings, knee high boots, and a felt hat are practical pairings. All you need is a black wool coat and you’re set to brave the chill.
Where you can get items similar to what I’m wearing
If you’re looking for a black felt hat, here’s one similar to what I’m wearing. I like the crown not too high and the band not to thick.
When you wear fleece lined leggings, always choose high waisted so they don’t shimmy down every five minutes.
And all my knee high boots as of right now are from Naturalizer because they are so comfortable. I wore this pair working eight hour make up artist shifts and walking around all day.
Here are some other black floral dress options similar to what I’m wearing:
I’ve featured this dress before in the summer. You can check out the post here.
