Red outfit + Neutral Lipstick

makeup for red dress

Makeup for red dress/outfit. You want something neutral.

I apologize for this crazy hair day! I wanted to test it out and see what happens when I just air dry and basically do nothing to my hair. This is what happened.

Makeup for red dress/outfit:

I’ve noticed that when my outfit is all red or has a lot of red in it, I don’t want to add more red to my look. A red lipstick feels excessive. A pink or fuchsia lipstick feels uncomplimentary. A burgundy feels too grundge. A brown shade feels too muddy. When it comes to wearing lipstick with a mostly red outfit, the key is to choose something bright but neutral. I found the perfect color! (I’m wearing it in the above picture) This color is bright enough to perk up the face, but neutral enough to not compete with a red outfit.

Where you can get items similar to what I’m wearing

Red plaid top. For an apple shape, make sure it is fitted and on the longer side. The smaller the plaid print, the more flattering. The darker the colors, the more flattering. Here are some great options.

And I always wear a longer white cami under my plaid tops to create width at my hip area. For this reason, I prefer a  straight hem as opposed to a round hem. Here is a  great option.
