*I usually share outfits that emphasize flattering an apple shape, but while I’m pregnant, I’ll be featuring pregnancy style.
As most of you know, before getting pregnant, I was writing for apple shapes. I knew what worked and what didn’t work for the body I’d lived in for 36 years. Now that I’m focusing on pregnancy style, the rules have changed!
Here’s what has worked for me:
1. Maternity clothes are not very fashionable. I’ve found better luck just looking for clothes that are stretchy in the regular sections I shop.
2. Skirts that widen like fit and flare styles only make me feel ginormous. I stick to pencil skirts and bodycon form fitting dresses that taper at the knee so I don’t get swallowed whole.
3. When choosing stretchy non-maternity dresses, choose a length below the knee to give space for the belly. Even though I feature above the knee styles, I’ve decided to not buy anymore of these lengths while I’m pregnant because it is always shorter with the belly present.
4. At the end of the day, don’t feel bad if all you really want to wear are maternity leggings and yoga pants and a long top. I know that’s what I’m in most of the time.
