There’s this really well known Bible verse – “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” (Matthew 22:39) that I’d like to flip around for the purpose of this article. “Love yourself as you love your neighbor.” Sometimes we have a hard time loving ourselves as much as we love others.
If my friend had an extra serving of ice cream, I wouldn’t make her feel bad. If my friend didn’t exercise 3 times this week, I wouldn’t make her feel bad. We treat our friends with so much care and love. We need to do that with ourselves!
What do you think? On the flip side, maybe we have a hard time loving our neighbors because we don’t even know how to love ourselves? Hmmmm…. worth thinking about.
