Happy holidays ya’ll! This weekend our lovely neighbors came over and dropped off gifts at our doorstep- David’s cookies, a holiday kitchen towel, a stuffed dog that dances to the tune of “Jingle Bells,” and quickly ran to keep their distance with big smiles and waves.
Paul shouted “Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas!” You guys. Couple goals! Like I literally want to be Paul and Carol when I retire. They just made my weekend. They also reminded me of how much happiness I get when I do something nice for others.

If this year has taught me anything, it’s that we need each other soo soo much. We need the kindness of neighbors. We need the listening ear of a friend. And we need to feel needed. We need the reciprocity of being able to give to others but also being able to accept the kindness and generosity of others.
Time and time again I am reminded that the happiest people are those who are on a mission to do better for others, for the world, for their community, for their family. That, and they also accept help when they need it. Again it’s the reciprocity that matters.

And that’s why this last scene from the movie “Last Christmas” warmed my heart. Have a listen! Also if you adore Emilia Clarke as much as I do, you’ll enjoy her breaking out in song-End of 2020
“We are so lucky to be alive. We are so lucky to be able to help each other, in little ways and in big ways. The reason we are lucky is because helping each other is in fact what makes us happy.”
And if you’re wanting some more research on how do-gooding makes you happier, I’d highly recommend this podcast episode!
