I don’t typically like focusing my writing on what not to wear instead of what to wear for fear of making anyone feel less confident if they are wearing something I mention. If you feel confident in what you are wearing, don’t let anyone tell you not to wear it- including me! But maybe this will be helpful to someone. At the very least we can have a good (much needed) laugh. I learned the hard way ya’ll. First up of least flattering sleeve options?
1. Cap Sleeve
I hate this picture of me! It’s a reminder of how much I hate cap sleeves. I was a bit heavier in this picture too since it was before I discovered intermittent fasting, but gosh! When I see this picture all I see is ARMS. Instead of cap sleeves, it’s better to opt for sleeveless because it creates a vertical line down the body and doesn’t create a diagonal line on the arm at one of the widest parts like a cap sleeve. 2. Dropped Shoulder
What does a dropped shoulder do? It makes the shoulder longer, wider and droopier. Yikes!
If your sleeve has a seam, do your best to make sure the seam is as perpendicular to the floor as possible. This completely vertical line gives the appearance of more narrow shoulders and elongates the upper body. Like this:
3. Extended shoulder puff sleeve
Similar to the drop shoulder with the addition of gigantic puff sleeves this is perfect for the gal with super narrow shoulders AKA not apple shapes!
These are big DON’TS:
If you are going to do puff sleeve, make sure it’s a tiny puff sleeve, quarter or long sleeve, and the shoulder isn’t dropped.
These are big DOS:
What do you think? Do you like puff sleeves? I’m obsessed.
