The Apple Shape Wardrobe: The Number One Tip I Have for Choosing Sweaters That Don’t Feel Bulky

Sweaters are a tough one for me, I have to admit! If you subscribe to my monthly newsletter, you might remember me mentioning one of the biggest tips for choosing sweaters- making sure the sleeves don’t have a drop shoulder!

See below the BIG DON’T:

This drop shoulder is the reason why sweaters feel bulky. It’ the equivalent of wearing a thick cap sleeve.

Instead, opt for a sweater either with no shoulder seam like this:

I’d most definitely wear this off one shoulder.

Or a shoulder seam that’s as close to vertical as possible:

Just so it’s clear, this, this, this, and this are big DON’Ts because of the drop shoulder seam. This, this, and this are big DO’s because they have almost vertical shoulder seams. Also, when possible, opt for a darker colored top with a deeper neckline.

Do you follow this rule? What do you think? I’d love to know!
