The Friday Five

The Friday Five

How are you? I can’t believe our time here in Tri-Cities is coming to a close. We are moving back to the Seattle area tomorrow. I’m excited to have all our kids’ toys available since we only packed leggos, crafts, and matchbox cars here. Here are some other things I’m excited about!

1. Permanently Cutting My Own Hair and Saving Money

I’ve been cutting my own hair for a long time– way before we knew anything about Covid. I have such thin hair that I don’t think it really makes a difference if I get a “good” haircut or not. I literally just part my hair down the middle and try to cut straight across on both sides. This time I played around with a few layers in front. My advice is to just keep repeating to yourself, It’s just hair. It will grow back. Because it’s true! It’s just hair. It will grow back. Now more than ever, there’s no better time to try cutting your own hair. Nowhere to go, nobody to see. Lots of time for your hair to grow back. Money saved in an uncertain economical future. I went a little shorter this time around. I do recommend investing in a good pair of hair cutting scissors. These are the ones I love.

I’m using Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush in Luminous Flush (acne safe) and my favorite Wet and Wild liquid liner.

2. The Home Edit’s Makeover on Busy Philipp’s Kitchen Pantry

You guys I’m loving the turn tables in this kitchen pantry makeover! What do you think? I think it’s a perfect solution for housing all the different vinegars, savory sauces, oils, nut butters, and sweet sauces and syrups!

3. Overnight Oats

Have you jumped on the overnight oats bandwagon? Years ago, my friend Tory introduced me to this recipe and it’s just sooo perfect I never deviated. I get cravings for this recipe, and it’s nice to know I’m actually eating raw oats. I’m a big fan of a no cook meal. Yummmm.

4. The Most Guest Appreciated Item You Can Include in Your Guest Room

Not that we’re housing any guests as of late, but isn’t this a funny way to share your wifi name and pass code with your guests? Frame it and hang it in the guest room. Of course they will ask, “Hey can I get your wifi password?” To which you will say, “It’s in the guest room (pause) all caps on first letters.” haha. And when they enter the guest room, they will see your clever little trick. 🙂

5. Wax Sealer for Letters

How cute are these wax sealed letters?! We used this red wax and just put it in a hot glue gun. Then we smashed this “letter H” stamp on it. I love getting hand written letters. It’s so ancient and wonderful to get snail mail. With everything going on in the world right now, I bet friends would be happily surprised to get mail with this beautiful seal.

The boys are running around and being crazy and loud just like they’re supposed to be. I’m going to go join them. I hope you have a safe weekend!
