If you celebrate, merry Christmas! My pharmacist brother has recommended that I start walking outside around our neighborhood every day to help with my fatigue, so this morning the boys and I went. Not that I’m any less tired, but it felt good to get outside, breathe in the cool, crisp air and get fresh oxygen, and get light on my face even if it was just a brighter cloudy day. The boys are happier about it too, that’s for sure, and I’m reporting much less mom guilt having them bike and play in the playground. So, it’s a win! What are you up to this weekend? Is there anything in the near future that you’re excited about? Here’s what I’m into this week Friday five Rick’s Chicken:
1. Rick’s Chicken
Do you have a smoker? If you do, I’d highly recommend making this super simple chicken drumstick (or thigh) recipe. We make this Friday five Rick’s Chicken often, and it’s one of those crowd pleasers. It’s the chicken Nate’s best man brings to all the social gatherings. He gave us the recipe under one condition- we aren’t allowed to bring it to gatherings he brings it to. Fair enough. This chicken is slightly spicy and has an all American mesquite flavor. It pairs perfect with these scalloped potatoes.
Instructions:
Heavily season drumsticks on all four sides with these seasonings in this order, going heaviest on the first ingredients.
- McCormick’s Mesquite Seasoning
- Garlic powder
- Pepper
- McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning
Preheat grill (we LOVE the Traeger), and smoke the chicken for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 300 degrees.

2. HBO’s The Undoing
We have only seen the first episode of this series but it is just as good as everyone is saying! I’m on the edge of my seat, and Nicole Kidman is so fabulous. It’s fun to have a show to be really excited about. It feels like I’m watching a box office thriller instead of a series. It feels like a movie instead of a show. Check it out!

3. The gift that doesn’t take much space but helps get their wiggles out indoors
Have you noticed that all the indoor toys that help kids get their wiggles out take up so much space?! I’d love to get this Jungle Jumperoo my friend Tory recommended, but we don’t have the space. Which is why I’m so excited about these stepping stones for kids to jump on. You can tuck them away easily, and they don’t take up much space. They come in different heights and are made of a grippy rubber material. I’m hoping this will keep the kids off the furniture haha.

4. Tartan plaid- my go to holiday print
This is my go to holiday outfit, and I absolutely love the red tartan print for the holidays! It just looks so festive.

Here are more tartan options if you’re in the market:
5. Rummikub
This is probably my favorite game of all time. I love many games, but I forget the rules of games all the time! This is one of the few games I actually remember the rules to and love playing. I don’t like numbers, but for some reason, it’s different with this game. It’s my favorite thing to pull out when I have friends over.

I hope you have a great weekend! See you next week!
