Hi lovely ladies! Summer is in full swing, and I’m a heat loving girl so I’m doing the happy dance most days. What’s on your heart right now? Right now I’m seeking out black owned businesses to support. If you are a black business owner, please don’t hesitate to message me at email@example.com and let me know about your business. I’m especially into buying food or clothing/fabric (of course). I’m so excited to have an excuse to get Lloyd’s famous carrot cake for Nate’s birthday coming up this summer! Here’s what else I’m digging.
1. The Round Cat-eye Sunglass Shape
Do you have a very wide face like me? I just love love this sun glass shape-the rounded cat-eye. If you have a round, wide, or heart shaped face, I’d recommend you try on a few shades in this shape. It is the most flattering shape I’ve found. The nude is my favorite because it just goes with everything!
Here are some great options if you are in the market:
2. Paddle boarding with the family
Keeping our sanity while sheltering in place means trying to find stuff to do in nature with the family. Since all plans were cancelled for Mother’s Day, Nate got us a couple of blow up paddle boards from Costco and we’ve gotten a lot of use out of them! The kiddos love hanging out on the “boat” and picking up random things we pass by on the river- branches and leaves and feathers and such. It’s a good arm workout, and it’s nice that it’s a blow up so you don’t have to worry about carrying it on top of a vehicle or having a roof rack. It comes with a pump and a paddle, and everything fits in the backpack it comes in. Highly recommend!
3. Multi-Vitamins That Work for Acne Prone Skin
So my skin has been terrible since we moved to Richland, WA, and I’m trying everything to get it to calm down. After messaging my long-distance skin guru, Emme Diane, she recommended this vitamin! Why? Most multi-vitamins contain Iodine and Biotin which are known to be acne causing if you have acne-prone skin. Crazy huh?! I checked my multi that I was currently trying and sure enough it had a lot of Iodine and Biotin. Then I remembered I used up an entire container of iodized salt from the apartment complex we are at for corporate housing instead of my usual pink Himalayan sea salt. Bingo! Haven’t broken out since! Crossing my fingers this is all I need to change.
4. Cherry and Blueberry Picking Season
One of the things I love the most about the summertime is fruit picking season! We’ve done cherry, strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry picking. It’s such a fun activity for both myself and the kiddos even during this time when we’re social distancing. The place we went to was Bill’s Berry Farm and they had ice cream, pies, a gift shop, and a playground. I was even able to snag one of the few wagons they had- a must have for moms with kids under 5 years old.
5. A great bone in chicken thigh recipe for American dishes
Every week I do a steak night for Nate. It’s his favorite meal! This is the best seasoning! Steak night always includes these creamy mashed potatoes from Pioneer woman and some kind of vegetable side. What happens is the steak is gone and I’ll always have vegetables and mashed potatoes I’ll need to use with another dish later on in the week. That’s where these delicious baked chicken thighs come in! I’ll skip a day of serving the mashed potatoes and vegetables and then reintroduce them with *tada a new meal-baked chicken, mashed potatoes, and vegetable side. This grilled zuchinni is one of my favs. I love when I only have to cook one thing for dinner yay! You know the best thing about this chicken thigh recipe? Teaspoons for all the rub ingredients. No halves or quarter teaspoons- just the same teaspoon for all the spices. Hello #lazyfoodiesunite 🙂
Well that’s it for today! What are you currently excited about? I’d love to know! I hope you have a fabulous weekend, and I hope the sun decides to come out where you live:)
