Hi lovely ladies! Today I was just talking to one of my favorite friends in Michigan about the art of phone friendships. I love those kinds of friendships where you can call each other at any time of the day without any awkwardness and the conversations just flow about seemingly meaningless, mundane happenings. Sometimes it’s a two minute phone call ending with a kid screaming in the background because he hurt himself, or it can go on for hours while I’m simultaneously doing laundry and dishes, making chores go by so fast. I find that it’s these mundane everyday conversations that feel the most intimate in a friendship. Like I’m telling her about my recent celebrity crush and the unthinkable thing I did because I hate to garden/landscape– I put artificial plants (gasp) outside. Then she’s sharing how she’s doing on her intermittent fasting journey and going back to a daily window instead of an every other day window, and she’s telling me how her Halloween plans this year have changed. Sharing the mundane- oh how it makes my extrovert heart swell.
So speaking of celebrity crushes, today we interrupt our regular Friday Five mix of excitement so I can bring you my five favorite films to watch with Dutch actor, Michiel Huisman– cuz yeah he’s so cute!
He’s not my typical type physically, which is probably a big reason why I’m crushing on him. Another topic of conversation between my Michigan phone friend and I is how we both crush on people who are very different from our type. We marry our type and we crush on our anti-type, typically the very opposite of our type. Poor Nate, he’s probably like why are we watching another movie with this guy in it?? haha. If you want some suggestions on what to watch this weekend featuring my recent celebrity crush, I highly recommend these!
If you’re in the mood for a Benjamin Button-like sci-fi love story-
Age of Adaline
If you’re in the mood for a good cry and a love story that starts in grade school-
If you’re in the mood for a sexy thriller with a love story-
If you’re in the mood for a war-torn love story and heartbreaking end-
The Ottoman Lieutenant
If you’re in the mood for a British love story where a well-off writer meets pig farmer and she uncovers secrets of a war-time past-
Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Okay they are all love stories haha but that’s just me. I almost always need a good love story to keep me interested in the storyline. If you want to start with the movie where Michiel Huisman is the most crush-worthy, go in this order!
- The Ottoman Lieutenant
- Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
- Age of Adaline
- Irreplaceable You
Do you have a celebrity you’re crushing on right now? Is he your type? I’d love to know!
